December Beer Tasting

On December 7th we held our first FREE beer tasting  hosted by Michael Sanderson, Brewing Manager at Samuel Adams in the Meyer Center.  Brother Knight Mark Ramirez prepared several delicious appetizers for the group.      Our plan was to use this event to recruit new male members from the St. Susanna parish to learn more about our organization, the charity work, and Catholic fraternity. GK George Denman delivered a powerful speech describing Knights of Columbus history and sharing some of the benefits of being a member including access to an insurance portfolio of life insurance, long-term care and annuities.  We raffled off some nice door prizes at the tasting including 6-packs of Sam Adams and Kroger gift cards.

Chesterwood Village

Chesterwood Village.  On November 28, 2014, members of the St. Susanna Knights of Columbus were on hand to assist elderly residents of Cesterwood Village from their room to the Chapel to attend mass led by our own Chaplin, Father Bishop.  They also assisted with the mass, and with getting the residents back to their room.  This service provided the opportunity for many elderly who normally would not have the ability to attend a regular mass at St. Susanna, to have the Mass come to them with some assistance from our Brother Knights.   This effort was planned and executed beautifully by SK Bill Bross.  Photos were taken by Brother Knight Mark Ramirez’s daughter, Emily Ramirez.  She did a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of the event.

Car Show.  This was our most successful car show to date, with over 136 cars registered—a 75% increase over 2017!   Additions in 2018 included the presence of Pam Harsacky’s custom jewelry booth that was a huge hit, the Graeter’s Ice Cream truck, display vehicles from Montgomery Lincoln and Lebanon Ford, and new food items including popcorn, French fries, and hamburgers. The quality of show cars was significantly improved with exotic cars like the 2010 Ferrari California, the 1989 Rolls Royce once owned by Neil Diamond and the 1967 Amphibian car which were all huge hits. Cars ranged from Model T’s to brand new Roush Mustangs and Z06 Corvettes!

Wine Tasting Fund Raiser

Wine Tasting Fund Raiser.  Nothing brings people together like wine. On November 15, the St. Susanna Knights of Columbus proved that raising money for worthy causes like St. Joseph’s Orphanage and St. Susanna Outreach Ministries can be a very enjoyable, entertaining, and rewarding experience.   It is only the second wine tasting event held by the Knights, and we already doubled attendance over the first event as people brought more friends and word has begun to spread about this fun evening!  We were also blessed to have Father Bishop join in our fellowship.
